Disguised Blessings

Does something ever happen and in hindsight you realize that it was a huge blessing and just how lucky you are?
Twice this week I have had something work out for me that left me very thankful things worked out the way they did.
My first instance of this was about my class schedule. I was really worried about one of my classes (not required for my degree, but I needed the hours and have already taken one of the two classes my program prescribes for this semester). For a few reasons I thought this class might be a disaster and Saturday I got an email from Amazon that my book order was cancelled and I would be issued a refund. The book was out of stock. I took that as my sign to find another class to take. I had been resisting doing so since I had already invested in the text book. That is pretty minor, but it felt like a big deal to me.
The second time this week I have been left thanking God for how things end up working out was last night. I went to a local bridal store a few weeks ago and almost purchased a Lazaro gown I really liked from there. I didn't pull the trigger because I wanted my Mom to have the final approval before I made such a big purchase. She always picked all my winning pageant dresses and just has an eye for picking a winner. We could never coordinate our schedules so she could meet me there to see the dress. I was a little frustrated that she wasn't being more accommodating to the bride (me), but we just couldn't line up a time. I ended up meeting my Mom at a store in Greenville because it was simpler, and got a dress I LOVE from there. Last night on the local news I saw that the store is closed and twenty seven brides cannot get in touch with them to get their dresses. I feel like I dodged a bullet.
I'm always amazed at how many times in life inconveniences, annoyances, and delays end up working out for the best.
I'm sure everyone has experienced some instance of this. Bottom line, God is good and I am thankful for how things work out!

Midweek Randoms

1. Door to door sales people might just be the most annoying thing I have encountered in quite a while. Yesterday I was getting out of my car and walking to the mailbox, hands full of my lunch bag, gym bag, etc. and on the phone with my Mom when I was approached by one. I thought it that was SO rude to approach me to talk when I was clearly just coming home from work, had my hands full, and was speaking on the phone. RUDE!
2. Tomorrow I go to my Wednesday night class for the first time. Wednesdays are going to be long.
3. I had terrible insomnia last night, and that was a no fun (except watching the finale of Below Deck), however I did enjoy watching Yadi. I guess it his natural German Shepherd tendencies, he really patrols the house at night. The place where he went to obedience class offers a protection class, and I think he would be a natural. He makes me feel really safe.
4. The pants above are my first ever Lululemon purchase and I love love love them. They make me feel skinny, and that is worth the price tag to me. Hopefully they will hold up as well as they are supposed to.
Happy Tuesday!!

Keep Going

Yesterday was the first day of school, which means things have been crazy for me at work, and also that I started classes.
I have to admit I spent most of this week feeling overwhelmed and even had moments of wondering if I made the right decision in going to school, and questioning why I thought I could handle going to grad school and working (I will stop working when I do clinicals).
BUT I know if I don't do this I will never get to where I want to be, so I am determined to keep going.
So far one of my classes seems OK. Not exactly easy certainly, but doable. Manageable. {As I side note, I've already started studying for that class and now IPA will never again be a beer to me.}
I'm over feeling defeated, because, well that just isn't really an option. I am super worried about the work load of one of my classes. I guess I will know more after I've been for the first time.
I'm really happy the weekend is here, and hope to get some rest. Work wore me out this week. I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Housewife Hair

My newest style crush is Lisa on Real Housewives of Miami. Today I tried to achieve housewife hair for picture day at work, but it wasn't a success.

I have a lot of hair, seriously a head full, but it is super baby fine and will not hold anything. Today I told it that it has no integrity. It simply will not do what it should.
Does anyone know how to get housewife hair?

I have last night's RHOM on DVR waiting for me when I get off work and I can't wait!
I am feeling depressed and panicked about school starting Thursday. I was excited, but after viewing the syllabus to one of my classes I am now just plain terrified.
Happy Tuesday!

I said yes to the dress!!

I am happy to report that dress shopping Saturday was a success and I have a dress!
That is a huge to do I can check off my list and a big weight off my mind.
I L-O-V-E my dress. I let my Mom make the final decision about it. When I did pageants she picked all my winning dresses.
I am getting married at a plantation in Georgia, and in typical Scarlett fashion I went with something grand. It is not understated. I actually thought it might be too much when I was it on the hanger, but loved it when I tried it on.
If I can find something at the right price, I wouldn't mind getting a more simple dress to wear for the reception so I can move around more freely.
Now I just have to KEEP off the weight I've lost.
Hope everyone has a good Monday!

Wedding Dress Shopping Take Three

Tomorrow I am headed out to meet my Mom bright and early for wedding dress shopping. I am hoping the third time will be the charm!

I have been sticking to my diet (mostly) and working out almost every day (thanks to my friend Melanie meeting me at the gym) so I am happy to say I am down to 142. The 130s are so so close!!
I am looking for something that really has a *wow* factor. My favorite pageant dress had cut outs and was really unique.
That makeup on the other hand-ugh :/
I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

A Sad Week

We've had a very sad week at our house with the loss of our cat, Ricky.
Ricky was a pretty quiet pet, especially in comparison to our other two, but his absence is very noticed at home.
I haven't felt like even getting on blogger until today, but I will be back very soon with wedding updates!!
Have a great Hump Day!

Life this week

has been slow and boring. Tuesday I went home from work because I was miserable sick.
I spent all of Tuesday and Wednesday being bored out of my mind and feeling awful.

At least I had our two dogs and my favorite movie to keep me entertained.
Last night I was finally feeling better and I was actually excited to do my nails and lay out my work clothes.

I am ready to get back to my routine and especially ready to get back to the gym. I am still holding steady at 144 and can't complain about that!
I hope everyone has a great Thursday!

Low Key Weekend

This weekend was uneventful and that was exactly how I was hoping it would be.
Saturday we had a lake day. Thank you, sun, for finally showing your face this summer. You've been  missed.

I'm on the third book in the House on Tradd Street series by Karen White and am really enjoying it. As a side note, a haunted dollhouse-it does not get any more creepy than that.
Sunday I didn't leave the house except to go to the grocery store and it was so relaxing. I got around to some things I've needed to do for a while such as giving both dogs a bath.
This morning I woke up feeling incredibly grateful for my quiet little life in sleepy Blythewood that I get to share with Nick.
Here's to hoping this is a quick and painless Monday! I have a gym date with my friend Melanie after work and she is cooking me dinner. It's always a treat to have someone else cook!

Wedding Planning Progress

After procrastinating for way too long, I am finally making some real progress in wedding planning.
We have a venue!!
They have credit card info on file and as soon as we sign the contract, which will be soon as we just had one little question, they will charge us for the deposit and it is ours.
I LOVE it.

I have a photographer! My contract from her is in the mail to me, and I LOVE her so I'm signing it and returning it to her as soon as is humanly possible.
I originally booked a different photographer, but after some serious thinking decided I wanted to go in another direction and switched. I was very anxious about how to go about this, as I did not want to come across as rude or unkind in any way. I thought about it a lot because the photographer is a friend. Luckily I have a sweet friend who has a PhD in the field of psychology and she gave me some helpful suggestions for wording to use to avoid being offensive to the first photographer. I just wanted a different style.
**I HAVE to purchase a dress this month to ensure it will be here on time, no pressure**
I hope everyone is having a great week!
