Fall Wish List

We had a wonderful relaxing weekend at home, but nothing worth recapping, so I'm just going to jump in with this year's Fall Wish List. This is last year's Fall Wish List. I can't believe it's almost that time again! I am jumping the gun a little with calling it Fall. We won't see Fall weather in SC until into October, so really it's more of a Back to School Wish List.

I'm trying to stick to casual clothes, and clothes that I can wear for school related things. I have plenty of dresses to wear to work, but need clothes that I can wear when I'm doing something like my observation hours in an elementary school. Last Fall semester on Wednesdays I had a 5:30 class after work and had to walk across campus. For reasons such as that, I NEED casual clothes.

I got a black fleece Northface last year, and I seriously wore it SO much. All winter. I wore it so so much, that I feel like adding a second into the rotation is justifiable. I have dress coats, and rarely wear them. I am not crazy about any of them, so maybe that is why. I don't feel the need to update them though.

This year in January I got two Del Ray tops and I wear then A LOT. The Loopy print with the little elephants on it is my favorite. They work for all seasons. Since I get a ton of use out of them, I think I can justify an Elsa for Fall. Again, this works with my rule of making myself stick to casual clothes. What's so great about this is that it will work for casual or dressy, work, school, or fun.

I don't have any Lilly Popovers, and again, the NEED for casual clothes. Y'all, it's real. When I finish school I will be having a career change, so I am not investing in more professional clothes. I could even be in scrubs daily after completing school. I am making do with the work clothes I have, and investing in casual clothes. I think this looks fun, and I will probably wear it a lot during the fall and winter seasons. I will also be missing wearing my Lilly shift dresses by then.

My other wants are black capri pants, which I can wear to work, school, etc. and I can wear with flats. The black capris I have need to be replaced badly. I got them in 2006 when I did an internship in college. I also want a turquoise sweater-the one I had from Express tore up. It was old, I bought it in 2009, and turquoise is my favorite color. I have a good bit of super old clothes, as I used to be poor. Maybe poor is not the right word, and certainly my basic needs were met, but I struggled. There was certainly not any money for wants. I made a pretty significantly low salary at the job I had before my current job, and I am not kidding when I tell you my clothes became threadbare. I plan to most a little more about this experience later on this week.

I would also like these, and I will need a new Lilly planner for 2015. I use the jumbo planner now, and I like it a lot. With everything I have going on it really helps me to have one place to write everything down.

 What are your current loves and wishes? Any big items for Fall?

Extreme Wedding Photo Dump {Part Three, Bride & Groom}

TGIF! We made it through another week.

These are some of my favorite photos from our wedding. I love how romantic they are. Our photographer took these immediately following the ceremony.

I will probably pick from these for our canvas and the cover of our album. It's hard to choose!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week. We have ZERO plans for the first time in what feels like forever, so I am excited to get some rest, get some things done around the house, and get myself prepared for the last three weeks of hell summer school.

Life Lately

This blog has been out of sight out of mind for the past few weeks. I've been consumed with summer school, and also had several things going on at work. I have to say I am extremely thankful to have a wonderful and supportive boss with everything that's been going on.

I want to get back to sharing our professional wedding photos soon. It's worth mentioning that my favorite person celebrated a birthday on Monday.

I got home early that day since I went to a workshop and wasn't in the office. I picked up his cake from Marble Slab on the way home. I got Nick a FitBit for his birthday and he seems to really like it.

Extreme Wedding Photo Dump {Part Two, Ceremony}

My two cents is that I firmly believe photography is one of the things in life where you get what you pay for. Do I buy store brand food at Publix? Yes, all the time. I am all about saving money. Ross and TJ Maxx are my happy places. Photography, however, is not something to skimp on IMHO. I am so so happy that I followed my intuition, and got Courtney to do our wedding. These pictures are worth every single cent! They are priceless to me really.

My advice to anyone in the wedding planning process would be to book a good photographer. It is worth the expense to have pictures that you love after the wedding, and also not to worry about how your photos will turn out. Worrying about the quality of your photos is the last thing you need on top of all the other stresses that accompany planning a wedding. I had originally booked another photographer at a lower price point, but ended up deciding that was not the right choice for me.

Me and my grandfather. By the time I got to this point, all my stress melted away and I was just having fun! I can't adequately describe how I really felt a weight lift during this walk.

Yay! After obsessing over wedding plans for months, it was now time to have fun. We walked out to The Tams Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy

These are a few my favorites from the pre-ceremony pictures. Courtney has your photos organized into pre-ceremony, wedding, bride & groom, and reception for you...makes my little OCD heart sing!

I'll be back tomorrow with the ceremony photos.

Weekend Recap

Another amazing weekend in the books! I used a day of vacation Friday to get caught up on school and some housework. Not the most fun way to use a vacation day, but had to be done. Friday night we headed up to Spartanburg, and had a night out with our best couple friends, Marcia and John. We had dinner at Ike's and then saw L Shaped Lot play.

It was our first time seeing Marcia and John's house. It was SO the perfect mixture of being stylish and decorated, but also so comfortable and cozy! I told Marcia she has some shopping trips to HomeGoods with me in the future. That way she can help me pick out stuff.

Saturday we went to my Mom's house and our friend Jessie's to visit. Sunday we had a VERY much needed lazy day. We were supposed to go to the water park in Columbia, but stayed home. I've had asthma and allergies. I've wanted to go to the water park the entire time I've lived here, so I hope we can do that soon.

Happy Monday!

Book Reviews

Summer is upon us, and I find that summer just begs for a good book. This is a problem for me since I tend to get engrossed in a book and neglect my schoolwork, but that is beside the point. Oh how I wish for the lazy summer days of undergrad when I would spend hours poolside reading!

Here are some books that I've loved lately:

I read Carole Radziwill's memoir about her life with her late husband (and the Kennedys) years ago when it came out and absolutely loved it. Yes, it is wrenching to read, but a really well written book. I had to read her new fiction book that she released this year. It didn't disappoint! It was a little slow in the middle, but had a great ending. Carole write very well, and I love her on RHNY.

The Affair by Colette Freedman was a book I couldn't put down. Given the title of the book, I don't think I'm giving anything away by saying that it is about an affair. What makes this book so interesting is that it is told from three points of view, the wife, the husband, and the mistress. Overall a really good read. I read the sequel, The Consequences as well. It wasn't as quite as good, but I had to find out what happened next and was satisfied with the ending.

Tempting Fate by Jane Green was a quick and easy read, but a little more substantial than your typical beach read. I've only read one of her other books, but I will definitely be reading more in the future.

I've mentioned that I've read this book a time or two already, but it's Emily Giffin and I love her so much that it gets another recommendation from me. I love all of her books, so it was no surprise that I finished this one in a few days.

I read super fast so I am always taking book recommendations. If you are reading something you like, let me know!
